Piet Ruijtenberg

Deputy Chairman and Deputy CEO

Piet is a graduate in geophysics from Utrecht University and has 35 years experience in the upstream oil industry including 31 years with Shell in the Middle East, Far East, Africa and Europe (UK and Germany).

During his career at Shell, Piet oversaw exploration operations and set up new ventures, often under extremely difficult and challenging circumstances, such as in Iraq and the Congo. He led teams in conducting field development studies, commercial negotiations and new business development.

Since 2010, Piet has been advising banks and hedge funds on Iraq risk assessments and oil companies on new business projects and oil field development in the Middle East.

As an avid sailor and cyclist, Piet understands the urgency to protect the environment and reducing pollution and green house gas emissions for future generations.
